What Does God Look Like?

A Kindergarten teacher watched her children at art time.  One little girl was completely engrossed in her drawing, never looking up  The teacher asked her what her drawing was, and the girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher said, "But no one knows what God looks like." With head still down and not distracted from her project at all, the youngster replied, "They will now."
Jesus' entrance into the world did exactly that:  He enabled us to see what God looks like.  From the manger in Bethlehem through the dusty roads of Palestine, to the cross outside of Jerusalem, Jesus revealed God.  His life, His teachings, and His sacrifice for us paint a portrait of a God who loves, who forgives, and who longs for a closer walk with man.
"Show us the Father," Philip said.  "He who has seen me has seen the Father," Jesus replied  (John 14:9). It is not a picture drawn on paper, and not a physical manifestation. Even the common pictures we often see of Jesus himself are only an artist’s  conception that are popular enough that when we see them we recognize who they represent. However, the Gospels paint a much better picture. Read them and view the portrait Think you cannot know what God looks like?  You can now!             --Ray Wells
